Excels in Calving Ease, Maternal Traits, Fertility and Carcass Traits

9909 is an attractive son of 9705. He has pigmentation around both eyes and on the scrotum.  It is difficult to find this kind of eye appeal, structural soundness, frame (7.0), performance, carcass traits and maternal excellence in a bull with a birth weight of 80 lbs and a BW EPD of 1.7!   Raised on a northern Idaho range without any creep feed, 9909 had an adjusted weaning weight of 694 with a 115 ratio  in his contemporary group at FTR.  In the Fall of 1999, 9909 was placed on the WCA/WSU bull test at Prosser, WA.

Individual Performance:

1.  9909 finished the test with a 104.4 performance index, based on an ADG of 3.26, a WDA of 3.20, and an adjusted 365 day weight of 1180.

2.  9909 also had the highest adjusted REA of all 36 horned and polled Hereford bulls on test.

3.  9909 had the 6th highest marbling score of all 36 Hereford bulls on test.

He was not offered for sale at the bull test.  We plan to use him at FTR this summer to breed heifers.  He produced excellent AI quality semen right after coming off test at 12 months of age.  He had a yearling scrotal measurement of 37.5 cm.
 
 

Maternal Performance:

9909's dam had her third calf in January, 2000 and has a calving interval of 349 days.  She is a +32 for Milk and a negative -3.2 for BW.  When the weaning records on her third calf are processed, she will be a Dam of Distinction, as are her dam and grandam.
