Here may well be the best set of genes in our herd, especially if your focus is, like ours, on milk, growth and lower birth weights. She has a near perfect phenotype to go with her exceptional genotype. In 1997 at 21 months of age, she gave birth to a 76 lbs heifer calf by her half sib, Feltons Endurance 745. She was listed as the top 1995 and 1996 heifer born in the entire breed for maternal milk. Her inbred calf (9704) may be even better than she is. Her dam is the great PR05.
9530 is now a donor cow at Grandview Plantation. We had three ET calves out of 9530 in 1998. They were females 9809 and 9813, and a bull 9824. These were sired by Decathlete, so they are double linebred to Feltons 517. We sold two embryos out of her and 512 to Ellis Kahn of Stone Creek Farm. He has a great 10/98 bull calf out of this mating, and we do too (9925). Brett Barber thought 9530 was the fanciest heifer on our place when he visited here in 1995. Her calves would certainly vindicate that assessment.
9530 was listed in the Fall 1999 Top 200 Active Dams in the breed
for excellence in all traits.
